The Early Years

Before I ever called myself an author, I was a quiet, imaginative kid who lived in my own world of stories, ideas, and daydreams.

I wasn’t raised in church, but I always had a soft spot toward God - even before I really understood Him.

My grandmother, who was saved and deeply devoted to her faith, prayed over us, taught us Scripture, and lived her walk with God out loud. Her example planted seeds in me that wouldn’t bloom until much later, but they were there… shaping my spirit before I had words for it.

Those early moments  full of wonder, creativity, and sensitivity  were already crafting the storyteller I would one day become.

Learning to Love Myself

Growing up, I didn’t always feel “wonderfully made.” I struggled with confidence, beauty, self-worth, and how I viewed my features - my smile, my hair, my skin, my body… the very things that made me me.

I learned how to shrink myself.
How to hide in pictures.
How to blend in instead of stand out.
How to tuck away the parts of me that felt “too much” or “not enough.”

Even when I believed in God, it took years for me to see myself the way He saw me.

Inspiration found in being a Mom

One quiet day in my bedroom, Wonderfully Made poured out of me in less than 30 minutes. I wrote it because my oldest daughter - who was in middle school at the time  was struggling deeply with her confidence and self-worth. My heart ached for her to know who she truly was. But the message wasn’t just for her. It was for all of my children.

And even as I was writing it, I knew this message was bigger than our home. I knew these words could bless other children, families, classrooms, and communities. That’s why I turned this beautiful poem into a book  so every child could hear the truth of who God created them to be.

Why I Write

I write for Black and Brown children  so they can see their bodies, hair, skin, features, culture, personality, and gifts celebrated as part of God’s beautiful design.

Every story I write whispers the same truth:

You are loved.
You belong.
You matter.
You were wonderfully made because God says so.

Thank You for Being Here

Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for supporting this purpose. My hope is that the Wonderfully Made Universe helps your children  and even the child inside of you  feel more seen, more encouraged, and more loved.
